Skilled migrant category (smc) reopening for New Zealand

In a big announcement by the Immigration Minister, the Skilled Migrant residence category is now opening again for applicants seeking residence visa for New Zealand.

The skilled migrant category intends to retain the majority of the required skills in New Zealand permanently. This will help in strengthening the country’s resilience to global shocks and securing economic stability for the future

The Skilled Migrant Category is a points-based system for assessing potential new migrants to New Zealand. Applicants gain points for factors such as age, having employment lined up in New Zealand, qualifications and experience.

The first selection in the 160-point category will be followed by subsequent selections in the 180-point category.
